Description:
Now sitting in a storage line at San Bernardino, CA, ATSF 2-10-2 #1626 started out as a compound 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive built by Baldwin in September of 1905. In April of 1918, the loco was simplified by the Albuquerque Shops. The loco lasted in service until being sold for scrap to Hyman-Michaels Company on March 29,1950. Rebuilt specs - oil burner, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x32" cylinders, engine wt of 298,040 lb, tractive force of 74,800 lb. Ralph H. Payne photo
