Here is an original photo of three Pennsylvania Railroad steam-powered locomotives. On the right is engine #9895, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the American Locomotive Company during June of 1913 and retired in October of 1957. On the left (R to L) are engines #6468 and another "J" Class unit whose number is not recorded. #6468 is a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during February of 1943 and retired in April of 1958. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. Roy Healey Collection; #15 of 16. |

Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by William K. Viekman that was taken in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1956. Photo Caption: "Pennsylvania H-10's, 2-8-0's, Nos. 7234, 9989, 9895, and 8173, Sandusky, Ohio, 1956." Shown here are four Pennsylvania Railroad "Consolidations" built by four different firms. #7234 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as number "7234" during December of 1913, renumbered "7563" in 1958, and retired in October of 1958. #9989 was built in Juniata as Vandalia H-8C number "419" during February of 1912, rebuilt by Vandalia as H-8SC number "361" in September of 1916, renumbered PRR "8824" in 1917, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-10S in November of 1920, renumbered "9889" in 1951, later renumbered "9989," and retired in August of 1957. #9895 was built by the American Locomotive Company during June of 1913 and retired in October of 1957. #8173 was built by the Lima Locomotive Works during October of 1915 and retired in October of 1957. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam Power ~ East and West" that's produced by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (816-11). |
