Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Englewood, Illinois, c. 1946. Shown in the foreground is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #508, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during September of 1923 and retired in May of 1951 after 28 years of faithful service. The name of the photographer and the pedigree of the New York Central steam locomotive visible in the background are not recorded. ("LouisFols"; #3 of 21) |
